23 suspended firecracker factories cleared to reopen
After fixing flagged deficiencies, 23 Virudhunagar firecracker units got central explosives authority clearance to resume.
Inspections since January found rule violations at 80 factories licensed by the central explosives authority’s Nagpur office, and those licences were temporarily suspended. After the units fixed the flagged deficiencies, the authority cleared 23 firecracker factories to resume operations. Virudhunagar district has 1,130 firecracker factories, including over 600 licensed by the central explosives regulatory authority.
