TN withdraws circular on students in left, CJP protests

Facing strong opposition, the Tamil Nadu government has withdrawn a circular that sought to stop students from joining protests by left parties and CJP. Student organisations and political parties across the state condemned it, putting the administration on the back foot. Yesterday a tahsildar in Gujiliyamparai had ordered a list of left-party members; that order was later withdrawn too.
