Pension and welfare hikes announced
CM Vijay's first Independence Day address raises support for freedom fighters and ex-servicemen.
CM C. Joseph Vijay used his first Independence Day address to raise welfare support for ex-servicemen, freedom fighters and martyrs’ families. Marriage assistance for daughters of ex-servicemen doubles from ₹25,000 to ₹50,000. Monthly pension for freedom fighters rises to ₹23,000, and family pension for martyrs’ families to ₹12,500. Monthly aid for disabled ex-servicemen and their dependents goes from ₹5,000 to ₹7,000. A special pension for descendants of Kattabomman, Muthuramalinga Sethupathi, the Marudhu brothers and V.O.C. will also be enhanced.
